Qatari press reports revealed the intention of
Al-Sadd club not to renew the contract of its Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez after the end of the current season, amid news of the possibility of taking over the leadership of his parent team Barcelona to succeed the Dutch Ronald Koeman.
"Al-Kass" channel stated that Al-Sadd club management has no intention of renewing the first-team coach Chafee after the end of the current season.
Xavi will leave the Qatari dam
Al-Sadd had bid farewell to the AFC Champions League a few days ago, after failing to get past the group stage.
Xavi, the former Spanish national team captain, began his journey with Al-Sadd in the summer of 2015 after his departure from Barcelona, to defend the colors of the Qatari team for four seasons, before becoming coach of the team in the summer of 2019, succeeding the Portuguese coach Josvaldo Ferreira.
Al-Sadd was crowned this season with the Qatar Stars League title for the fifteenth time in its history and the coronation came this season without defeat, and last February the team won the Qatar Cup title and reached the semi-finals of the Emir Cup competition.
The Spanish newspapers have confirmed in recent days that Chafee is a strong candidate to take over Barcelona next season, succeeding Ronald Koeman, who does not have the approval of the new club management led by Juan Laporta.
Barcelona deposited the Champions League from the last 16 at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, and his chances of winning the Spanish League title retreated after his recent loss to Granada at Camp Nou.
Koman's successor
Spanish Channel 4 reported that Laporta intends to dismiss Koeman, who is in his first season as coach of the team, and bring in former team captain and star Xavi Hernandez.
And the channel stated that one reason may change Laporta's position on Coman, which is to win the Spanish League title, as in this case, the Dutch coach will ensure that he retains his job for at least a new season.
Laporta had given confidence to Koeman the day after his victory in the Barcelona presidential elections, but in recent weeks he had refrained from giving clear answers about the future of the Dutch coach, amid a growing conviction in Barcelona of the need to appoint Xavi as his successor.
Barcelona supporters believe that Xavi is the only person able at this stage to take over the task after he was one of the most important elements in the squad during his golden era and his saturation with Barcelona's style of play and training.
According to the Spanish channel, the Barcelona administration has already contacted Xavi and informed him of the need not to renew his contract with the Qatari dam at the present time, but he is ready for the beginning of his journey as a coach for his parent team.
It is noteworthy that Chafee refused last year to take over Barcelona as a coach, succeeding Into Valverde, but the reason was clear at the time, which was his differences with the previous administration led by Josep Maria Bartomeu, while the relationship seems ideal with the returning president Juan Laporta.
